La matanza de la escuela Santa María de Iquique constituye. a no dudarlo. un hito dentro de la historia de nuestro país. Muy por encima de su real importancia como acontecimiento concreto. y como ya hemos visto en términos generales, ella escá revestida de multiples signiflcantes. tanto para la historia del movimiento obrero como para la del Estado-Nación, de tal suerte que llega a surgir como una forma de catalizador histórico.
