Este trabajo tiene la virtud de tratar uno de los períodos menos estudiados de la provincia de Tarapacá: el período peruano. La chilenización ha influido, incluso, en el interés historiográfico, es decir, se ha privilegiado a 1880 como una inflexión de partida, coincidente, además, con el inicio del ciclo de expansión del salitre. Donoso, en cambio, analiza el litoral peruano antes de la guerra, estudiando los papeles que desempeñaron los obreros, los empresarios y los cónsules extranjeros en el puerto que adquirió la calificación de "mayor" por esos años.Downloads
