Este artículo intenta examinar cómo la Iglesia Católica Romana moviliza recursos en respuesta a las necesidades inmediatas de los nuevos inmigrantes, tales como provisión de salud, trabajo, alimentación y vivienda. Para incidir en las demandas de grupos humanos en desplazamiento, la Iglesia utiliza en forma versátil su estructura centralista vaticana -provista de subjetividad jurídica internacional- para colocar en la agenda temática nacional-internacional los nuevos tópicos, y su dimensión (trans)nacional para organizar y potenciara las comunidades de inmigrantes in situ. Este trabajo pretende abordar tres niveles: la dimensión normativa de la Iglesia Católica, referida a su doctrina específica en materia de migraciones internacionales, particularmente la más reciente; el nivel burocrático de los órganos eclesiásticos orientados a atender el fenómeno migratorio contingente; y finalmente analiza el modus operandi de la Iglesia Católica respecto de las comunidades de emigrantes en Chile.Downloads
