Cultural Heritage: from protection to projection. The case of Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpetre Works

El presente documento aborda una visión respecto de la conciencia que a través de la historia los seres humanos han tenido sobre el valor del patrimonio cultural y natural y la importancia de su conservación; de cómo esa conciencia se ha diversificado y la forma en que se ha materializado en la generación de políticas y normativas que se orientan a garantizar el conocimiento de nuestro pasado, su permanencia en el tiempo y la construcción de identidad a partir de él. En forma específica, también da cuenta del proceso de empoderamiento que ha tenido el patrimonio salitrero en los últimos años, a través de las oficinas salitreras Humberstone y Santa Laura, consideradas los más cabales representantes de la Era del Salitre y que han logrado ser inscritas en la Lista de Patrimonio Mundial. Ejemplo de una exitosa gestión pública y privada que sigue avanzando hacia la puesta en valor definitiva del bien, a través del desarrollo de su respectivo Plan de Manejo.Downloads
