Ethnicity and indigenous citizenship: Aymara collective action in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Peru

Este artículo tiene como propósito reflexionar sobre la consolidación del pueblo aymara como un actor político relevante en Argentina, Bolivia, Chile y Perú, aunque bajo una serie de características que diferencian el quehacer de las organizaciones aymaras según el país de procedencia. La principal hipótesis al respecto es que en Chile y Argentina las organizaciones actuales no se han posicionado fundamentalmente desde el conflicto con el Estado sino más bien se han destacado por la construcción de espacios de ciudadanía diferenciada, demandando una mayor participación política que permita mejorar sus condiciones de existencia en la búsqueda del reconocimiento de derechos económicos, sociales y culturales dentro del Estado nación. Los focos de conflicto entre las comunidades aymaras y el Estado nacional se han centrado más bien en Bolivia y Perú, expresándose fundamentalmente como malestar, rebelión y protesta.
